DIRECTIONS BY ROAD

From the South, Lochinver is 98 miles / 2 hours drive from Inverness. Follow the A9 Northward then West on the A835 via Ullapool to Ledmore Junction (80 miles). Turn left onto the A387 to Lochinver (19 miles). Drive through the village, then after the traffic lights turn left at the Culag river bridge fork (signposted Strathan & Inverkirkaig) and drive for 1 mile, Lochinver Holiday Lodges & Cottages signed entrance at 33 Strathan, IV27 4LR is on the right.

From the North, Lochinver is 122 miles from Thurso / 2 hours 50 minutes drive. Head South-East on the A9 for 62 miles. Turn right after Golspie onto the A839 for 14.6 miles. At Lairg turn left onto the A836 for 0.3 miles, then first right onto A839 for 7.8 miles then continue onto the A837 for 37 miles to Lochinver. Drive through the village, then after the traffic lights turn left at the Culag river bridge fork (signposted Strathan & Inverkirkaig) and drive for 1 mile, Lochinver Holiday Lodges & Cottages signed entrance at 33 Strathan is on the right.

DIRECTIONS BY AIR

Inverness airport is approximately two hours drive / 110 miles away. Flights are currently being operated by: British Airways, Easyjet, KLM and Loganair, although this can change from time to time. Hire cars are available at the airport from a number of companies including Alamo, Enterprise and National.

DIRECTIONS BY TRAIN

The nearest Railway station is at Inverness which is 98 miles / 2 hours drive from Lochinver. There are direct trains from London to Inverness plus a sleeper service is available. Car hire is available in Inverness. There is a limited train service that runs from Inverness to Lairg Station near the East coast (45 miles / 1 hour 10 mins) from where you would need to hire a taxi to continue your journey to Lochinver.

DIRECTIONS BY FERRY

Caledonian McBrayne run a daily service from Stornoway in Lewis to Ullapool (36 miles / 40 minutes drive from Lochinver). NorthLink Ferries run a daily service from Stromness in Orkney to Scrabster, near Thurso (119 miles / 3 hours drive). DFDS Seaways run a daily overnight European ferry service from Amsterdam to Newcastle (347 miles / 7 hours drive). P&O Ferries run a daily service from Larne in Northern Ireland to Troon in Ayrshire near Glasgow (283 miles / 5 1/2 hours)

DIRECTIONS BY BUS

City Link runs a regular bus service to and from Glasgow / Edinburgh and Inverness all year round. From Inverness both City Link and Rapsons run a bus service to Ullapool, where you would need to change buses to continue onto Lochinver village, the bus stops beside the Church of Scotland on Main Street.
